invitation
In short:
I invite you to send me one work (graphic/text) that will fit on one vertical A4 page in an anthology, which will be posted online in PDF format. Please send your work to szrenp@yahoo.com before the end of June 2026.
And now for the extended version:
On September 9, 2026, I will be celebrating my fiftieth birthday. To mark the occasion, I plan to publish an anthology in PDF format. I would like to include works submitted by people with whom I have had/have creative contact.
So, if you would like to participate in my anniversary celebration, please send me a work (prepared especially for this occasion) to szrenp@yahoo.com before the end of June 2026. I will then need time to assemble all the works.
I reserve the right to reject any submitted work(s). If someone submits more than one page, I will select a maximum of one page for publication (but I would prefer to simply receive one work, taking up an A4 page). The anthology format will be vertical A4, so it's best if the work has a similar shape (but if you submit a different format, that's also fine).
The work can be in the form of an image file (png, jpg) or text. If you want to include a title, make it visible on the artwork or above the text. The table of contents will not include the titles of the works, only the names and surnames/nicknames.
If you intend to submit music, please do not send recordings. Sheet music is also discouraged. Instead, write instructions at the meta level (e.g., a piece like "play rhythms on the drum corresponding to your breathing: inhales - play fast, exhales - play slow. You can vary the breathing rate").
In addition, in the email, please provide the name and surname/nickname you would like to use to sign your work (the names and surnames or nicknames will be at the top of each page of the publication).
What's best to send?
I'd prefer to see in this anthology the genres I enjoy and practice, for example:
- one-letter poems;
- asemic writing;
- poemics;
- paleolithics;
- other genres I work with (comics, metapoetry, geometric colorism, scientific and popular science texts – as long as they fit on one A4 page, photos of you performing gymnastics/dance/martial arts/juggling exercises, or photos of you creating – i.e., documentation of the creative process in the form of photographs).
Note: This isn't about birthday wishes – so don't send an image file with text, like wishing me a happy birthday. No – don't do that! Send a poem or graphic that's simply top-notch. Interesting and valuable.
If you don't know what a one-letter poem, asemic writing, poemics, or a Paleolithic is, check Google (preferably somewhere where my work or my theory is present). Or, you know what, I'll give you a few more tips (especially regarding paleolithics).
A one-letter poem is a graphic work consisting of a single new letter. So, you can transform an existing letter (or, for example, combine elements of several letters) or create something completely new, also resembling a letter in some way. It's not about placing a letter, even from an obscure alphabet, on a piece of paper (unless you transform it), but about searching for something new. But if you incorporate an existing letter (e.g., "a") into a photograph in some interesting way, that's fine too. If the result is interesting, then it's actually ok.
Asemic writing is a graphic work resembling handwriting. It's actually quite easy to create – just grab a brush or a marker and do some black-and-white scribbling. Besides, search Google for "asemic writing" – you might find something inspiring.
Poemics – works containing elements of poetry and comics. For example, frames like in a comic book, but with text only within the frames. It might also be worth researching what poemics are and what different varieties of them can exist. If you find something that interests you, or if you create something else that's poemics-like, that's great!
Paleolithics: This is a strictly defined form. In a paleolithic, we have the following structure:
title
first line – one syllable
second line – three syllables
third line – five syllables
It's best if such a Paleolithic has an archaic feel, something connected to nature, wilderness, and the primeval. Oh, and there are more than just textual Paleolithics. A Paleolithic in a graphic form (e.g., saved in a png file format) has a graphical title (preferably an understandable image) instead of a text title. Generally, you can submit several (or even many) paleolithics, as long as they fit on a single A4 page in the anthology.
What about experimental poetry in the broadest sense? Why not! You can simply submit something interesting, even something completely different from my works. However, it's best if it's done with good intentions (and not with the intention of showing how weak my work is in terms of quality, compared to what you're creating :) ). Of course, don't limit yourself, just create the best work possible! However, I'd be pleased if the work doesn't (most likely) attack, criticize, or insult me. Look at the possibilities for creating something interesting (I'm referring to areas of experimental poetry where I also work or have worked) – for example, look for something like one-word poems or metapoetry.
When it comes to scientific or popular science texts, remember that a maximum of one A4 page is acceptable (using standard font size and density). It's best – when writing scientific or popular science texts – to cover topics that are close to my heart. For example, the Hierarchies Rivalry Theory, general and specific administrative sciences, legislation as learning, similarity as a fundamental principle of law, and similar issues.
What I particularly don't want:
- texts/graphics with content related to birthdays, the number 50, and similar things associated with anniversaries, the half-hundredth anniversary, or September 9th.
- previously published works,
- self-promotion, including website addresses and slogans about your (or someone else's) work,
- texts on political topics promoting capitalism/fascism/nationalism, and political party advertising in general. The exception is criticism of capitalism/fascism/nationalism and the glorification of more equalitarian ideologies :) (but seriously, let's not overdo it with party/political themes – this is about creativity, art, and possibly music and science),
- texts on theistic topics, especially monotheism (elements of polytheism are fine, although I would also prefer general mythological themes if you absolutely must go in that direction). It's best to avoid religious themes, unless it's about Decisianism or at least agnosticism or atheistic spirituality.
- offensive, overly controversial things, and so on. Hey, why am I writing all this? The point is to create a great anthology, so simply submit an interesting work (graphic or text) - that's the best solution.
Okay, I hope that was clear. The project is non-commercial, I don't charge fees or pay for participation. Oh, and this is a project aimed at people I've had contact with. So, if you're just learning about my existence, this isn't the project for you. I invite only people I've already had contact with to participate.
